In August 2013, Tom Pohaku Stone, joined Surfing Medicine International 501(c)(3) in Africa to share his traditional knowledge of wave riding and board making with the Kormantse community, and to help initiate an herbal cancer research and treatment center with Sister Ivelyn Harris (Jamaican Maroon Healer), a Direct Descendant of Queen Nanny of the Maroons. About one year later, Surfing Medicine International 501(c)(3) concludes that Federally approved drugs played no role in the disappearance of Tom Pohaku Stone’s prostate cancer.
